[After their very successful gambling ring, they'd kicked some mermaid out of her house to celebrate. Kicked out is such a mean way of putting it, though. Sure, they threatened her a bit, but Aphra did toss like a lot of shells her way too? Really, they were renting it. Airbnbing it, or water rather than air in this case.
It was nice. It'd been a while, since Tolvan. And while Aphra did miss the imperial agent, it wasn't like their relationship was anything serious or like it ever could be with her. She was useful, and she wasn't useful when she wasn't here. Zero was here, though.
The night,
was just a very bad dream.
The prison she'd been sent to hurtling towards some planet the Empire wanted to punish. Tolvan finding her. Sana finding her. Some fungus that thought it was a Jedi and also pretended to be her mom. That guy who wanted her dead because she got his partner killed on that last mission. And Vader.
His presence could be felt even if you had no clue what the Force was. It lurked and filled a room, a planet even. And he was coming for her, for them.
The next part goes quickly, fuzzily just like the end of a dream. She asks Tolvan to erase her memory. Tolvan asks her to do the same. Then...
Aphra stirs, not sure where she is. It's comfy here. A nice bed, not a prison cell. Her eyes open and she sees a flash of white hair. She smiles and cuddles in closer, sleepily wrapping her arms around the other.]
[ For the most part? She's a try anything once sort of gal, and give anyone a chance if they seem like they'd be a good enough fuck and cool with being ghosted on once the self-loathing kicks in.
But there are some things she just won't do.
Cuddling is definitely one of them.
Zero frowns, raising her head just enough so she can look over her shoulder. ]
You wanna' try that again?
[ Her voice is still hoarse with sleep. She shrugs off the arm wrapped around her. ]
You're talking to the wrong gal if that's what you're looking for, snookums.
[It's all she manages to say at first, the thoughts coming into place. Tolvan doesn't sound like that. Tolvan loves her nicknames... she thinks they're cute. Tolvan... doesn't know who she is anymore.
Not that it matters, this isn't Tolvan.]
I-
[The words feel heavy in her throat, like they're blocking out any air trying to get into her lungs.]
I thought you were someone else.
[Aphra sits up, her gaze turned outwards and far away from where they are. Her eyes feel warm.]
[Aphra doesn't try and stop her, falling back into the bed and shielding herself with the blankets.
She remembers Zero talking to the balloon like it was alive. She doesn't say anything, though. These aren't things you talk about, she knows that much. She might be stupid, but she's not an idiot.
Flufto pops out of wherever he was hiding while they were fucking because yeah and zooms past Zero's legs into the bed with Aphra. She kinda wishes he could still explode.]
See you later?
[It's a question, but she doesn't sound like she's expecting anything out of it.]
I'm not telling you this to like make you feel bad for me, okay? Which I know makes it sound like that's exactly what I'm doing but let me finish. It wasn't- okay, that's... look, it was this place. Or not this place, but this whole thing? You know? The shit that happens to us here? I guess... I saw something. My future. I don't know. It doesn't matter.
Just. I'm not some weirdo who does crap like this, got it? Weird magic threw me off. I'll forget about it by tomorrow.

Yikes. ]
Don't worry about it..
[ Except she's already getting out of bed and looking for her clothes. ]
That's half the fun of these things, right? Thinking about other people–

You gonna' make this weird, or wha– ah ha! Found you!.
[ By 'you' she means her underwear, which she's now in the process of putting on. ]
You're all mopey– it's almost as bad as the cuddling.
